Pursuant to the resolution of the National Council of Legal Advisers as of 14 March 2014, there was established the Commission on Human Rights, as a standing committee of the National Council of Legal Advisers, composed of 9 persons. Its main objectives are as follows: • to act on behalf of legal counsels in the area of promoting universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;

Favourable judgment of the Court of first instance regarding the case of more than 50 million PLN worth value of the dispute [January 2014]

On 21 January 2014 the Regional Court in Koszalin upheld the position of the law firm Budzowska Fiutowski and Partners representing one of the Polish banks and dismissed the lawsuit in a case where the amount in dispute was over 50 million PLN. The Court shared the standpoint of Att. Benedykt Fiutowski, the bank’s representative, who argued the groundlessness of the opponent’s claims. The opponent sought, inter alia, the cancellation of the credit agreement concluded with the bank and the banking executive titles issued in connection therewith.

On 28 March 2014, Att. Jolanta Budzowska will deliver a lecture at the Conference organised by the Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce in Nowy Tomyśl. The Conference devoted to the issue of “The use of ADR in selected sectors of the economy” is a part of a series of conferences having as its subject theoretical and practical aspects of Arbitration and Mediation. Att. Jolanta Budzowska will give a lecture on “Mediation in the cases involving medical negligence: possibilities and limitations”.

Budzowska, Fiutowski & Partners is the official partner of the contest organized by the European Law Students’ Association ELSA Kraków [28 January 2014]

This year’s National Competition to Draft Notes on the Findings of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Administrative Court is organized for the seventeenth time. This prestigious project of ELSA Poland is gaining support from the most popular entities, organizations and legal institutions in Poland. Every year the competition enjoys the interest of many law students at the Jagiellonian University and Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University College. The participants wish to test their knowledge and skills that prove to be of use in the legal profession.

Budzowska Fiutowski and Partners has been included in the list of firms that have been awarded the status of implementing the so-called good practices. This will be shown in the official report “Responsible Business in Poland 2013. Good practices” which will be published and officially announced during CSR Fairs on April 1, 2014. Good practices of BFP which were officially declared were the activities for Jasiek Mela Foundation BEYOND HORIZONS, consisting in the support and legal assistance for the Foundation and its beneficiaries. Consultations of the Council of Europe in respect of ECHR [27 January 2014]

Att. Jolanta Budzowska was invited by the National Council of Legal Advisers to the panel of experts to participate in the consultations of the Council of Europe on the future of the European Court of Human Rights. In addition to Att. Jolanta Budzowska, the consultations were participated by the President of the National Council of Legal Advisers – Att. Dariusz Sałajewski, Att. Magdalena Witkowska, the Member of the Regional Chamber of Legal Advisors in Gdańsk and Michał Balcerzak, PhD, University in Toruń.

Second Medical Law Congress in Cracow [November 2013]

On December 3-4, Jolanta Budzowska participated in the Second Medical Law Congress organised by the Polish Medical Law Association. The Congress took place at the oldest and most renowned university in Poland, the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and was attended by highly recognised professionals and representatives of both medical and legal professions.
