“Passengers on board LOT Polish Airlines Flight 016 continue to demand justice in the United State Courts as the 2 year anniversary of the accident approaches”   Over 100 passengers who were on board LOT Polish Airlines Flight 016 when it was forced to make an emergency gear up landing (Belly Landing) following the failed deployment of the landing gear continue to pursue their claim in the Courts of Chicago and shortly, New York. The group is seeking answers to what caused their traumatic experience as well as damages for their losses resulting from the events on 1 November 2011.

The Polish Congress of Court Disputes, Mediation and Arbitration, held by the Allerhand Institute on the 25th of June 2013 in Warsaw, was the first conference dedicated to the topic of court proceedings in several years. One of the main issues which were raised during the Congress was that of the prolixity of court proceedings, and the possible solutions to this occurrence.

Between the 30th of May and the 2nd of June 2013 yet another Jurismus congress has taken place – this time, in Madrid. Jurismus is an international organization uniting young lawyers from over 650 law firms across Europe. Mrs. Karolina Kolary, legal counsel and Mr. Michał Sikora, legal counsel, took part in the event on behalf of the BFP law firm.

Michał Sikora and Karolina Kolary attended an annual young Eurojuris lawyers meeting in Venice from 14 to 17 of June. They had a chance to have an inside look on the benefits of best practices for improving the productivity and work/life balance, and on ten things to remember when preparing an international case. The lectures delivered by specialists such as Prof. Andrea Gattini from International Law at Padua University or Prof. Bruno Barel, Associate Professor of Law of the European Union at Padua University undoubtedly added splendour to the meeting.

Jolanta Budzowska participated in the fourth European Economic Congress in Katowice. As a part of the latter, on 15 May 2012, there took place the Second Congress of Private Hospitals. The European substantive part of the discussions involved the Directive 2011/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, which becomes effective on 25 October 2013.
